Hannah Bergler & Selina Gödl, Koper/Ljubljana (Slovenia), Summer 2022
We worked at the non-profit organization called PiNA, Koper for three weeks during the summer 2022, which we were able to do thanks to the Erasmus+ programme. PiNA builds connections between individuals and their need for co-creation. They have been promoting socially responsible practices and strengthening the culture of dialogue for over 20 years. They have one main office with rooms that can be used for working together and holding various meetings. The second location is called “HEKA”, where they provide space for students to experiment with their technological equipment, but they also have an audiovisual room.
PiNA was the organizer for this year’s Design+Science Summer School in Ljubljana, where students from all around Europe came together to talk about the topic cohabitation. It took place from the 11th to the 15th July 2022. We were responsible for the Social Media channels of the event and writing blog entries afterwards.
During our first week in Koper, we researched about the experts and students that would come to the event and wrote summaries as well as questions to ask them during interviews. Afterwards we prepared a Social Media Plan and brainstormed ideas. Before we started, we talked with the head of communication from PiNA and together we finalized the concept and got straight to work. We created templates, graphics and the first few posts for our Instagram account. After this week we travelled to Ljubljana to be on site of the Summer School. But before it even started, we were invited to the welcoming party to get to know everyone ahead of the school.

After a short night’s rest, we were excited to greet the Participants. Every day started with a lecture, and after a joined lunch the participants were separated into three groups. Each of them worked on a presentation in the afternoon and afterwards there were different events for them to attend. Our work routine was rather similar throughout the week. In the morning we started to prepare the coffee and hand out snacks. Then we worked on our posts and Instagram stories, we also interviewed the experts and mentors. We cut the interviews into short reels to post on Instagram and give an insight on the creative minds behind the lectures. At the end of every day, we prepared an evaluation for the participants so that we could give the information to our mentor and work on improving their experience. Our highlight of this week was watching the presentations of the groups. They were very creative and brought new ideas to think about our society and the way we live together on this earth.
Then we travelled again to Koper for our last week. We were sad to leave the inspiring people behind but enjoyed our last few days at the sea. For work we wrote blog entries about every day and created some more reels to post afterwards. At the end we said goodbye on our account and wrapped up our amazing internship experience. We want to thank our teacher Mrs. Schlick and Karl Stocker for making this one in a lifetime experience possible. We are also very thankful for our kind mentor Maja Drobne, who supported us throughout our stay!
