I did an Internship at the Kon-Tiki Museum in Oslo, Norway from August 14^th to Sep.11^th of 2020. The exhibition in this museum is about the Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdahl.
During these four weeks I have learned a lot about the infrastructure of a museum and how everything is working behind the scenes. I was able to learn directly from the curator of the museum.

I worked with old documents and old books, also I worked with the manager from another museum to work out a cooperation-event between the Kon-Tiki and one other museum, called “Norsk Maritimt Museum”.
My workday started at 8a.m. and ended at 5p.m. Monday through Thursday, on Friday I finished working at 1p.m.

I had a great work environment , everybody was nice and helpful. I was invited to dinner a lot of times. One time I was invited to a company-dinner, everyone who worked at the museum was there, even the son of Thor Heyerdahl, his name is Thor Heyerdahl Jr. It was an unforgettable experience, and the food was amazing.

Since it was not my first time in Oslo, I focused on exploring the fjords. I often went for a walk along these fjords and it was amazing. Of course, I visited a few museums, for example the “Nobel Prize Museum”, the “Framm-Museum”, the “Viking-ship Museum” and others.

In the last week, the director of the Kon-Tiki museum manged to arrange a guided tour at the Oslo Opera House for me. Because the director knew someone there it was free, and I even got a little present.

At the end of my internship my work-colleagues prepared a traditional Norwegian breakfast, which we then ate together. The farewell was very sad, because they were all dear to my heart and I knew I would miss them. I still am in contact with a few of my colleagues.
In the end I have to say that this was one of the greatest summers I have ever experienced and if I had the chance to go again, I would go immediately.
