From 15 to 22 october 2026, students from three classes, 4HLWd, 4HLWc and 4HLWb, had the opportunity to spend an unforgettable week in Dublin, the capital of Ireland. During our stay, we improved our English skills, explored the city, discovered Irish culture and enjoyed several exciting excursions. The trip was a wonderful combination of learning, sightseeing and spending time together.
Discovering Dublin – City Tour
At the beginning of our stay, we met at the famous Molly Malone Statue in the city centre. We were divided into three groups and went on a guided city tour. Despite the cold weather, we got a wonderful first impression of Dublin and discovered some of its most famous sights. The tour was a great way to learn more about the city’s history, culture and atmosphere.
Exploring the Irish Coast – Cliffs of Moher
One of the highlights of our trip was our excursion to the spectacular Cliffs of Moher. We met at the Clifton Court Hotel at 8 a.m. and travelled to the west coast of Ireland. From 12:15 p.m. until 2 p.m., we had time to explore the area on our own. We were lucky to enjoy beautiful weather, which is quite unusual for the region. The breathtaking views of the cliffs and the atlantic ocean were absolutely impressive and made the trip a truly memorable experience.
A Walk Through Nature – Howth
Another highlight was our trip to Howth. We met at Howth Summit at 11 a.m. and went on a cliff walk to Howth Village. The weather was beautiful again, allowing us to enjoy the stunning coastal scenery to the fullest. We had lots of fun together, discovered new landscapes and enjoyed the fresh sea air. The walk was a wonderful opportunity to experience Ireland’s natural beauty.

A Visit to the National Wax Museum
During our stay, we also visited the National Wax Museum in Dublin. We were excited to see the different wax figures and learn how they are made. However, some of the figures did not look as realistic as we had expected. Although the experience was a little different from what we had imagined, it was still an interesting opportunity to discover something new.
English Lessons and the Jeanie Johnston Museum
Our trip was not only about sightseeing but also about improving our English. On one morning, we attended English lessons at school, where we had the chance to practise our language skills.
Afterwards, we visited the Jeanie Johnston Museum, where we took part in a 50-minute guided tour. We explored the ship in detail and learned more about its history and the difficult experiences of Irish emigrants in the past. Although the visit was not equally interesting for everyone, it gave us a valuable insight into an important part of Irish history. Later, we had some free time to explore Dublin independently, visit shops and enjoy the city at our own pace.
Traditional Irish Music
Another memorable afternoon began after three hours of English lessons starting at 9 a.m. We then went to a pub to experience traditional Irish music. We had expected a karaoke session with familiar songs that we could sing along to. Instead, we found ourselves enjoying a lively Irish music experience that was quite different from what we had imagined! It was certainly an unexpected and entertaining cultural experience. The weather was windy but not too cold, and we enjoyed our time together.
Our Journey Home
After an amazing week filled with new experiences, exciting excursions and unforgettable memories, it was time to say goodbye to Dublin and return to Graz. Our flight home was scheduled for 10:40 a.m. Although we were looking forward to returning home, we were also sad that our time in Ireland had come to an end.
A Big Thank You!
Our week in Dublin was an unforgettable experience for all three classes. We improved our english, learned more about Irish history and culture, explored beautiful landscapes and created wonderful memories with our classmates. From the impressive Cliffs of Moher to the lively atmosphere of Dublin, every experience made our trip special in its own way.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to our teachers for organising this fantastic trip and supporting us throughout the week. We are also extremely grateful to our parents for making this experience possible. This trip gave us the chance to learn beyond the classroom, discover a new country and strengthen our friendships.
