From Nora König and Leonie Wallitsch, 5HLKa (Slovenia, Summer 2025)

In August, we had the opportunity to complete a three-week internship at the cultural organization PiNA in Koper, Slovenia. The internship was focused on culture, events and communication, and we were especially involved in the creative field of social media. From the very beginning, we were encouraged to bring in our own ideas and take on an active role in different projects.
During the first days, we started developing promotional strategies for an upcoming event. This task was exciting because it enabled us to think creatively, to plan content, and to put our concepts into practice. We filmed and edited short videos, tested different formats, and tried out innovative approaches to reach new audiences. It was motivating to see that our suggestions were taken seriously and that we could directly contribute to the organization’s communication marketing.
After having completed this initial project, we were assigned to support the social media presence of EU Direct Koper. Our responsibility was to make their channels more attractive and accessible for young people. To achieve this, we analyzed the existing content, discussed strengths and weaknesses, and brainstormed new ideas for posts. In the following weeks, we created reels, designed stories, and prepared different types of content with a more modern and engaging style. Through this process, we gained practical skills in video production, editing, and content design, as well as experience in developing a consistent social media strategy.

One aspect we particularly appreciated was the balance between independence and support. We were trusted to organize our own workflow and make creative decisions, but whenever we had questions, the team was ready to help and give feedback. This made the working atmosphere both professional and friendly at the same time. Another positive aspect was that we had the chance to improve our English skills naturally through everyday communication.
Looking back, this internship was a very valuable experience for us. We learned a lot about teamwork, creativity, and professional communication. We also discovered how rewarding it can be to see your own ideas realized and shared with an audience. The time at PiNA really strengthened our practical skills. Overall, it was an enriching and motivating internship that we will remember very positively.
