Franka Glieder & Leonie Groß, 4HLKa, (Croatia, summer 2025)
From June 28 to July 21 2025, we had the opportunity to complete our ERASMUS+ internship in Pula, Croatia for the 72nd Film Festival. Those three weeks were truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Of course, work was our main focus, but along the way we learned many things that will help us in the future.
We realized how important it is to stay calm in stressful situations. Whenever something had to be changed at the last minute or guests suddenly had different requests, it was all about staying flexible, improvising, and still smiling. It wasn’t easy at the beginning, but we improved every single day. And as an extra challenge, we even managed to build an Ikea shelf without the proper tools – a mix of creativity, patience, and a bit of muscle power.
In our free time, we set ourselves a little mission: to explore as many beaches around Pula as possible. In the end, we visited nine different beaches, each unique but all stunning – sometimes crystal-clear water, sometimes rocky bays, sometimes wide sandy beaches. For us, it felt almost like a treasure hunt, only the treasure was always a jump into the sea.
Of course, we also explored the city itself. Pula, with its old streets and Roman amphitheatre, has so much charm. A real highlight was hiking up the hill to the castle in the centre of the city. The climb was sweaty, but the view from the top made it all worth it.
Our conclusion: this internship was the perfect mix of work, learning, and summer vibes. We not only practiced how to handle stress and last-minute changes but also collected countless memories and even made friends for life. For us, it was a time full of teamwork, sunshine, the sea, and lots of fun.
